Short-Term Disability (STD)

The Company ensures you have financial protection if you have a short-term disability. STD Insurance pays you a benefit if you cannot work temporarily due to an injury, illness, or maternity leave.

Rendr provides full-time employees with the following coverage through UNUM at no cost to you:
Benefit: 60% of salary up to $2,500/week
Benefits Duration: up to 12 weeks
When Benefits Begin: 8th day of disability

Your doctor and the insurance company will work together to determine how long benefits are payable based on your condition.

Long-Term Disability (LTD)

Sometimes circumstances are considered long-term, meaning more significant financial stress and hardship for your family.

Rendr provides LTD coverage to full-time employees through UNUM, at no cost to you.
The core coverage is:
Benefit: 60% of salary up to $10,000
Benefits Duration: Social Security Normal Retirement Age
When Benefits Begin: after you have been disabled as defined by the plan for 91 days
Definition of Disability: Own Occupation for physicians and Extended Own Occupation for all others.

*You can purchase voluntary Buy-Up LTD coverage to increase the benefit to $10,000/month. If you do not purchase Buy-Up LTD coverage when you are first eligible, you may need to complete a health statement if to add this coverage later.

Important Information About Disability Benefits

Coordination of benefits: UNUM will deduct from your regular benefit other types of the income you receive or are eligible to receive from other sources due to your disability (e.g., statutory disability benefit).

New York Paid Family Leave: Employees must file for New York Paid Family Leave (PFL) to receive short-term disability (STD) benefits through Rendr. STD will pay the difference between 60% of base compensation and $2,500 (your STD benefit) and what PFL pays.

Pre-existing conditions: The LTD plan includes a pre-existing condition limitation of a three-month look back and 12 months covered under the plan. A pre-existing condition consists of any condition/ symptom for which you consulted with a physician, received treatment, or took prescribed drugs in the specified period before coverage in this plan.
