Transportation Accounts

Commuter benefits administered by Surency help stretch your pay. The program allows you to set aside pre-tax dollars each month to pay for qualified, work-related transportation and parking expenses. This account reimburses you for expenses such as buses, vanpooling, and subway or commuter-train costs.

How the Plan Works

Estimate your monthly transportation and/or parking expenses and elect to have this amount evenly deducted pre-tax from your paycheck each pay period. Per the 2024 IRS guidelines, you can contribute up to:

  • $315/month to a Transit Account
  • $315/month to a Parking Account

You can make changes to your election anytime during the year through Paycom. A change must be made by the 15th of the month to take effect on the first day of the following month. Unused funds roll over monthly, but you cannot spend more than the $315 IRS maximum per account in any given month.

Available Services

  • Qualified parking – parking near your place of employment or allowing you to commute to work.
  • Transit pass – pass, token, fare card, or voucher purchased to get you to and from work.
  • Vanpooling – transportation provided between your home and work in a commuter highway vehicle. The vehicle must hold more than six adult passengers, and at least 80% of the vehicle’s mileage must be used to get people to and from work.

Surency Visa Card

You will use the Surency Visa Card to pay for your qualified parking/transit expenses at approved merchants. If you cannot use your card for purchases, you may submit a claim for reimbursement. Expenses will only be paid up to the amount available in your account.
